Premium Rate (PRM) Service

This is another service which can be accessed by telephone subscribers all over the country even if the Intelligent Network facility is available only in one exchange. PRM service will facilitate service providers to offer service like forecast, future, share market, job consultation etc. The service provider is allotted a PRM service number (three to five digits) by the network operator (BSNL) and that number can be accessed from any point in the network. For this service call charges will be at a higher rate (these charges will be borne by calling users) i.e. premium rate and the revenue earned is shared between service provider and network provider (BSNL). For the same PRM service number, the subscriber can have a number of destination numbers.

The charges indicated here are PRM service charges and they do not include the normal charges levied for basic telephony service

ALLOTMENT OF SINGLE PRM NO. FOR DIFFERENT IN LOCATIONS
(W.E.F.20TH JULY 2001)

There have been numerous request for allotment of Single PRM No. for different IN locations. The following decision has been taken by the BSNL in this regard;

Presently, the PRM Nos. are allotted from SSPs as per the requests received from the PRM Service Providers/Customers. The Bills are raised by the concerned SSPs. The revenue share to the PRM Service provider is released after the verification of the realized amount from different telephone subscribers. However, if any PRM Service Providers takes same PRM No. at different SSPs, the settlement of accounts among concerned SSPs, and the settlement of revenue share with the PRM Service Provider becomes quite cumbersome in view of single billing for one PRM No. independent of SSP, and hence requirement of rigorous coordination among the SSPs.

Keeping the above problems in view, it has now been decided by BSNL to nominate Calcutta SSP as the Nodal SSP for coordination in such cases.

All other concerned SSPs, from where such PRM Nos. are opened, will submit a monthly statement of realized revenue to the Nodal SSP.

Nodal SSP will release the revenue share to the Service Providers after compiling the data on realized revenue received from different SSPs.
The SSPs will subsequently settle the accounts with the Nodal SSP.

The cases of restricting the access to PRM Service to the Indian Telephone Card(ITC)  users or to the STD/ISD subscribers who asks for such service, is under consideration in Corporate Office.
